A Parliament of Owls!
These are all 3-drawer jewellery boxes...

The first is of Ash with Iroko feathers and a Paduak beak...

The second is of Iroko with Iroko features and a Wenge beak...

and the third is of Ash with Ash features and a Zebrano beak.

A special commission!
This Heart Box of two tone Walnut
was obviously for a wedding proposal...

Inside it is lined with red velvet, has two zyga
hinges and the lid is magnetically held closed...

Inside was this size 'K' ring made of the same
Walnut with a heart embellishment of Paduak.

A cutlery box made of Walnut with
 tapered sides and Ash splines...

Inside, each piece of cutlery has its own special place.
Each has finger holes on either side for ease of removal.
The knives are also magnetically held to
stop them falling out when the lid is open.
The piece is hinged with brass quadrant hinges for some real class!

I re-Jimagination-ed this piece which I made a while ago.

I added the pyrography (burning the wood with a hot iron)
to the top and side panels with a Chinese design.

I think it makes it look a lot better!

An acorn box of Walnut on two oak leaves of Oak

The Walnut acorn part pulls of to reveal a modest interior
lined with black velvet - perfect for rings or a few precious items.

And it looks really cool in a black & white background, right?!

This heart shaped box is of reclaimed Mahogany

Personalised for the client as well as being
embedded with a New Zealand Paua Shell
- also in the shape of a heart!
This end grain chopping board of Iroko...

...was engraved with a personal message for a client.

This squirrel box is made of American Cherry
with the details of inlayed Ash.

The brilliant part is when you open up the lid
the inside of the box is shaped as an acorn!

This cool clock was upcycled from several broken bicycle cogs.

The lowest cog is on a pendulum motion and so swings side to side.
The wooden background to the clock is African Padauk - featuring the
heart wood and sap wood (hence the two tone effect)
Great news! The first VW campervan that Jimagination Creations worked on featured front page in a National Magazine!

Admittedly I am a bit slow is saying so as it was the March edition - issue 77! But hey! This was Dusty Millar's bus called 'Lucky' and it also had a feature article for several pages from page 5. In the article I was named dropped (although they got my surname wrong!) and my interior woodworking could be seen in some of the pics. Happily they did get all the Jimagination contact details correct at the end of the article.

Friday 31 January 2014

So I've been busy these last 2 months on a VW Campervan refit project.
A full interior re-build - over head locker, full length cabinet, rear cupboards,
new floor, curved seat kick board -Pics to follow soon.
What is it?

It's a Sea Urchin! Made from a turned bowl that went wrong!
So re-jimagined into this! Something 1500 spines!

Put onto a turned Ash stand for display purposes. But that's not all...

...oh no, because it's a Jimagination Creation it has a purpose...
It's a ring holder as well! What better way to protect you most valuable
rings than have them hidden in a spiky shell! Brilliant!

A drink's cabinet upcycled from an old washing machine drum!
Sandblasted & toughened glass top with a plywood centre piece inlayed with Zebrano. The centre piece lifts out and acts as a tray to serve drinks on! Inside the cabinet has 3 sections for whatever drinks you choose! In the picture there are beers in one and spirits in the other, whilst the third is dedicated to wine and has spaces to house 2 wine glasses. Dividing the sections is a plywood shot glass holder.

Not only does it have all the above features, it also has LED coloured lighting!
It can be mains operated or by remote control and can do all kinds of funky patterns.
Guaranteed to be a talking point of any party!

Tuesday 12 November 2013

These Christmas Trees are made of Plywood.
The Stars on top are of Iroko.

This Dish of Eucalptus also has some natural bark left on it.
Believe it or not the two circular lines running around
the entire dish just below the rim is completely natural!

This Monkey Puzzle bowl has some great spalted colours

...and in the (almost) centre where a soft spot was
I have inlayed a Native New Zealand Paua Shell.

A bowl of Roupala Lace.
Though the pics don't do it justice the grain actually does look like lacework.

This bowl has a very subtle foot as well.

I left some of the natural bark on the outsides of this Eucalyptus bowl just to make it a bit different.

A medium sized pot of Monkey Puzzle - hence the amazing branch knots around it.
It also has some really great colours and spalts.

A lidded pot of Eucalyptus with a turned lid pull of Walnut

A 'Fish' trivet of Iroko finished with a plastic coating making it resistant to pretty much everything!

These Iroko chopping boards are end-grain making them
the best most durable kind of cutting board you could get.

Finished with several coats of pure mineral oil and then a top coat of pure beeswax.

This Cornwall shaped box of Cherry was updated with the use of Pyrography.
I pyrographed around the carved Cornwall shape to make it stand out more.
Much better!

Two heart shaped dishes with mini hearts inside.
The darker one is of reclaimed Teak and an Ash mini heart...

...while the lighter one is made of Ash with a Cherry mini heart.
This fun Cow jewellery bandsaw box is made of many different woods.
The main head is of Maple and the 3D nose of Beech.

The tongue is of Cherry and is also a drawer pull revealing a pink felt lined mouth drawer.
The eyes and ears piece also lifts off to reveal another useful compartment lined with black felt.
