My most recent commission was to re-fit the interior of this 'Teardrop' caravan
When I received it it was rough! Covered in thin aluminium,
holes hacked into it and very bad ineffective hinges...
So the first job was to install new gas struts
(like you'd find in the boot of a hatchback car),
and of course rip out EVERYTHING ready to start from scratch!
This is about half way through the rear kitchen re-build.
A new mid level work surface was fitted with lower cupboard space.
The wiring was completely re-done as it was all over the place previously.
So the kitchen light switch was relocated to the kitchen!
(The green switch on the right of the picture) - before it was inside
so you would have too open up the inside and climb in just to switch on the kitchen light - madness!
This is the end of the kitchen re-build.
All made out of Ash with Ash veneer where needed
(the inside of the rear hatch and the teardrop sides in front of the cupboards).
Cupboards are fitted with stylish thin nickel finished handles.
The worktop is finished with a plastic coating to protect it from staining and heat.
The kitchen towel holder on the underside of the rear door is magnetically held on,
so can be removed and used when and where is convenient.
The black box is one thing that was kept from the previous set up
- its for charging things like phones etc via a car adapter cable.
After the re-fit the kitchen had a lot more cupboard and storage space.
Both the upper cupboards had central shelves and between them is a pull-out
drawer with a wine bottle holder and small trays for little kitchen/food items.
With the bottom cupboards, the left hand one has a drop
down front so that it can double as extra flat table space.
The new design also features a pull-out extendable table
inlayed with a VW logo of Utile with Walnut borders...
...and a specialised cutlery drawer with internal dividers...
...and this is the close-up of the upper middle pull-out drawer with the wine holder.
Inside I added two low down storage drawers and a pop up dvd screen/stereo unit.
The interior walls may look rough compared to the kitchen, but it was then going to be
covered with new carpet or similar by someone else (I just do the woodwork!).
New speakers were added, with new storage areas between them
(there wasn't any there previously).
The existing led lighting and coloured lighting was rewired and relocated.
And for a final touch I made a set of 4 coasters
in the VW logo shape to match the inlayed table.
