A bit of recycling here!
This Formica veneered plywood dual drawer cube was once part of an old table.
The two drawers have brass pulls on them.

I left the plywood on show as a contrasting frame around the drawers.
The back has the Formica on it.

A 'Frog on a lily-pad' jewellery box.

The frog is hand carved from Iroko
and the lily-pad is of Oak

The inside has a green velvet lining.

A jewellery box made of plywood
with pyrographed panels of a pond theme

The top is adorned with a Walnut veneered plywood Dragonfly.

This 'Tree' is made of plywood and actually has a hollow core.
Approx 190cm high x 100cm wide x 20cm deep.

It features squirrels that can be moved around...

...one is reading and the other one just looks inquisitive.

The tree is of course a feature bookcase!
(pink is the clients choice - but it could have easily be any colour).

My most recent commission was to re-fit the interior of this 'Teardrop' caravan

When I received it it was rough! Covered in thin aluminium,
holes hacked into it and very bad ineffective hinges...

So the first job was to install new gas struts
(like you'd find in the boot of a hatchback car),
and of course rip out EVERYTHING ready to start from scratch!

This is about half way through the rear kitchen re-build.
A new mid level work surface was fitted with lower cupboard space.
The wiring was completely re-done as it was all over the place previously.
So the kitchen light switch was relocated to the kitchen!
(The green switch on the right of the picture) - before it was inside
so you would have too open up the inside and climb in just to switch on the kitchen light - madness!

This is the end of the kitchen re-build.
All made out of Ash with Ash veneer where needed
(the inside of the rear hatch and the teardrop sides in front of the cupboards).
Cupboards are fitted with stylish thin nickel finished handles.
The worktop is finished with a plastic coating to protect it from staining and heat.
The kitchen towel holder on the underside of the rear door is magnetically held on,
so can be removed and used when and where is convenient.
The black box is one thing that was kept from the previous set up
- its for charging things like phones etc via a car adapter cable.

After the re-fit the kitchen had a lot more cupboard and storage space.
Both the upper cupboards had central shelves and between them is a pull-out
drawer with a wine bottle holder and small trays for little kitchen/food items.
With the bottom cupboards, the left hand one has a drop
down front so that it can double as extra flat table space.

The new design also features a pull-out extendable table
inlayed with a VW logo of Utile with Walnut borders...

...and a specialised cutlery drawer with internal dividers...

...and this is the close-up of the upper middle pull-out drawer with the wine holder.

Inside I added two low down storage drawers and a pop up dvd screen/stereo unit.
The interior walls may look rough compared to the kitchen, but it was then going to be
covered with new carpet or similar by someone else (I just do the woodwork!).

New speakers were added, with new storage areas between them
(there wasn't any there previously).
The existing led lighting and coloured lighting was rewired and relocated.

And for a final touch I made a set of 4 coasters
in the VW logo shape to match the inlayed table.

An end grain chopping board
(the best type you can get as its longer lasting and kinder to knives)
made of Maple surrounded by Walnut surrounded by Cherry
with contrasting end panels of Beech.
Approx 51cm long x 31cm long and 6cm high & weighing about 6kg!

As it was a wedding present the front is engraved
with the names of the happy couple & the wedding date.

As an end grain chopping board it is reversible so each end has natural handles.
Finished with a pure mineral oil & a top coat of beeswax.

Traditionally a gift made of wood is given for a 5th Wedding Anniversary.
This trophy of Oak with an Ash 'ribbon' was designed by the client
and realised by Jimagination Creations for the clients wife.
The underneath was also engraved using a pyrograph iron with a personal message from the husband.

A money box for 'Joe' of Oak.
This one has a perspex window behind the name
so that he can see the money piling up!
This 18 inch high coffee table is made from some reclaimed Oak dining table leafs.

One full one makes the table top while one the same size was
cut up to make the four legs & the magazine shelf underneath.

A toy box for 'Sophie' made of Oak

The corner posts are dovetailed together for extra strength.

As with all my children's toy boxes, this one has safety
hinges which holds the lid open at any angle avoiding
it falling down onto heads, hands or fingers!
A set of commissioned 'snow' themed picture frames
to commemorate a snowboarding holiday.

These two are a pair of ski tips, one is landscape, the other portrait.

While these are obviously a snowflake & snowboard
All are made from Ash and all apertures are to fit 8x6 inch pictures.

A selection of duo trivets which can be used as one or as two separately.

This duo one also can join together when apart!

These are made of Maple and Beech & are finished with Melamine
- a heat resistant finish.

This 'Owl' bandsaw box is made from many woods
- Ash, Beech, Walnut, Cherry, Cedar & Oak!
It actually sits flat on it's back & it's beak is the
handle to lift the magnetically held on lid off with.
This 'Cornwall' bandsaw box of Cherry is carved all around the county's boundaries

inside a divider gives two useful sections.

This octagonal jewellery box of Utile has two layers
and is pyrographed with a bamboo type design.

Each layer is lined with red velvet.

A selection of jewellery boxes with lift open lids.

A money for 'Seb' of Ash, Cedar & Utile

A sliding cover accesses the money beneath the 'b'.

Jimagination is back!

...ready for new commissions...

Saturday, 12 January 2013

Jimagination Creations is
taking a break for while,
so if you are looking to
commission a special piece
just hang on until April 2013
when I'll be back in the workshop,
 fully recharged and newly inspired!
A commission piece of Utile with panel inlays of Ash.
Named on the lid.

After opening with the half mortised lock and brass lid pull you discover
two lift out trays and differing divisions for smaller items lined with black velvet.

Below them is a sliding, half box length, drawer and below that a dual divided section for larger items.

The box has brass quadrant hinges.
